Starting today, all Elisa prepaid card customers will be able to use ultra-fast 5G Internet

22.07.2024

Tänasest saavad kõik Elisa kõnekaardi kliendid kasutada ülikiiret 5G internetti

As of 20th of June, all Elisa and ZEN prepaid card customers will be able to use the continuously expanding 5G mobile Internet. To connect to the 5G network, all users need to do is be in Elisa’s 5G coverage area, have a phone that supports the 5G network, a 4G SIM card installed, and mobile Internet enabled in their device settings.

‘The number of 5G-enabled phones has been steadily increasing among the users of prepaid cards, with Elisa 5G network coverage having also expanded exponentially and now covering more than 76% of the Estonian population. This clearly shows that the time is right to expand the circle of 5G users,’ said Mailiis Ploomann, Head of Elisa’s Private Customer Unit. ‘By making the next-generation network available to customers with prepaid cards, we can now offer ultra-fast and future-proof Internet to even more people.’

Customers using prepaid cards do not have to do anything themselves to benefit from the 5G network. If a device supporting the new network standard is used, it will be automatically switched to the 5G network from 20th of June. 5G support is offered on most phones sold in recent years, including the most popular Apple, Sony, Xiaomi, Nokia, OnePlus, Nothing, Cat, Poco, Honor, and Samsung smartphones.

5G is significantly faster and more reliable than previous standards, making everyday tasks easier and more enjoyable. Elisa is actively expanding 5G coverage throughout Estonia, with nearly 600 5G base stations already in operation, offering the Internet of the future wherever people actually want to use it.

Against the background of 5G network expansion, Elisa also updated the packages and tickets offered to prepaid card users to better meet changed habits and the needs of today’s digital solutions.
